0A.23.1F

Massey Ferguson 0A.23.1F – Hydraulic Control Module / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Triggered when the tractor's onboard diagnostic system detects a malfunction specifically on the #2 rear remote/external hydraulic valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem on the hydraulic valve, a failure of the solenoid coil, or an out-of-range reading from the spool position sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2. Look for chafed wires, loose connections, or corrosion inside the connector plug.

  2. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to read the live data for the Spool Position Sensor Value on Valve 2. Check if the value is stuck, erratic, or out of the specified voltage range when the valve is commanded.

  3. Test the resistance of the solenoid coil on Valve 2 with a multimeter to ensure it is not shorted or open.

  4. Verify that there are no CAN-bus communication errors between the Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the electrical connector from the External Hydraulic Valve 2 solenoid and spool position sensor.

  3. Clean and Re-test

If the connector is dirty or corroded, clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, reconnect, and test to see if the code clears.

  4. Remove the Valve/Sensor

If the sensor or solenoid is faulty, unbolt the solenoid/sensor assembly from the #2 spool valve block.

  5. Replace Components

Install the new spool position sensor, solenoid coil, or complete spool valve assembly as dictated by your diagnostic findings. Ensure all O-rings and seals are properly seated to prevent leaks.

  6. Reassembly

Torque the valve block bolts to OEM specifications and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Calibration

Clear the DTCs using a diagnostic tool. You may need to perform a hydraulic valve calibration routine via the tractor's terminal or diagnostic software so the ECU can learn the new spool position sensor's end-stops.
