Check the cause
Check the hydraulic oil level and condition. Contaminated oil or a blocked hydraulic/transmission filter can restrict flow and cause valve faults.
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors going to the #2 electric spool slice for corrosion, damage, or loose pins (a common cause for this code).
Check the spool valve detents and cables for mechanical binding. Rust can build up, making it difficult for the valve to move or return to neutral.
Test the spool position sensor values using a diagnostic tool to see if the sensor is reading out of range or failing to register neutral.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower all implements to the ground. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Relieve all hydraulic pressure by moving the hydraulic levers back and forth.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the rear external hydraulic valve block (usually mounted at the rear of the tractor above the axle).
Clean and Inspect
Thoroughly clean the area around Valve 2 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Address Mechanical Linkages
If the valve uses a cable (common on some configurations), inspect the spool valve cable and rubber boots. Replace the cable if it is seized or frayed.
Replace the Electric Spool Slice
If the electrical solenoid or internal position sensor has failed, the specific electric spool slice must be removed. Unbolt the slice from the valve stack, taking care not to lose or damage the O-rings between the slices.
Install the New Valve
Bolt the new electric spool slice into the stack. Torque the tie-rod bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
Programming
A new electric spool slice must be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a dealer diagnostic tool for it to function correctly.
Test
Top up hydraulic fluid if any was lost, start the tractor, and test the #2 remote for proper operation and leaks.
