Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, bent pins, or broken wires (most common cause of sensor value errors)

  2. Test the spool position sensor for correct voltage/resistance to determine if the sensor has failed or if the valve is physically jammed

  3. Check the condition of the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) and transmission/hydraulic filter, as dirty oil or blockages can cause the spool valve to stick

  4. Verify that the wiring between the Mid Mount Valve Module and the Dash is intact

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

    Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual pressure in the system.

  2. Access the Valve

    Locate the External Hydraulic Valve 2 block (usually located at the rear remote stack or mid-mount valve block, depending on the tractor's configuration).

  3. Clean and Reconnect

    Disconnect the electrical harness to the valve's position sensor and solenoid. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring is damaged, splice in a repair pigtail.

  4. Replace Sensor/Switch

    If the wiring is sound but the code persists, remove and replace the electric spool valve control switch / position sensor on Valve 2.

  5. Valve Overhaul/Replacement

    If the valve is mechanically sticking due to internal wear or contamination, remove the valve block. Rebuild it using an OEM spool valve repair kit (replacing the O-rings and seals), or replace the entire spool valve assembly if the internal bore is scored.

  6. Reassembly and Calibration

    Reinstall the valve, reconnect the electrical fittings, and top off the hydraulic fluid with OEM-spec UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40).

  7. Clear Codes

    Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.2X.19 DTC from the system and cycle the valve to ensure the code does not return.
