0A.2X.26

Massey Ferguson 0A.2X.26 – Mid Mount Valve Module or rear hydraulic valve control modules: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction within the tractor's hydraulic system, specifically related to the operation, electrical connection, or sensor reading of the second external hydraulic remote spool valve.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at Valve 2 for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins

  2. Check the spool position sensor for damage or erratic readings using a diagnostic tool

  3. Check for mechanical binding by inspecting the spool valve detents and mechanical linkages for rust or seizing

  4. Inspect the hydraulic oil and transmission filters for heavy contamination or blockages

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Lower all implements to the ground. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before loosening any fittings.

  2. Filter Replacement

If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated, drain the fluid and replace the hydraulic/transmission oil filters.

  3. Wiring Repair

Disconnect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 2. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring harness is frayed or the connector is damaged, splice in a replacement pigtail connector.

  4. Sensor Replacement

If diagnostic tools show an erratic spool position sensor value, remove the retaining screws on the sensor housing at the end of the spool valve and install a new spool position sensor.

  5. Valve Replacement

If the valve is mechanically seized (e.g., rusted detents), the valve body must be removed. Note that for many modern Massey Ferguson tractors, the manufacturer does not sell internal repair parts for the detents; the complete spool valve assembly must be replaced.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect all components, refill hydraulic fluid if lost, and use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.2X.26 code. Test the remote valve with an implement to ensure proper operation.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly

Often sold as a complete unit by Massey Ferguson if the detents or internal bores are damaged.

  • Spool Position Sensor

Required if the valve's position cannot be read by the module.

  • Hydraulic Oil Filter / Transmission Filter

Required if fluid contamination is restricting valve operation.

  • Hydraulic O-Rings and Seals

Required for re-sealing the valve block to the tractor housing.
