Check the cause
Verify the complaint and stabilize electrical power by checking battery voltage and grounds. Note if the code appears on startup, under load, or when hydraulics are engaged.
Check the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition for contamination (water or metal shavings) which can cause valves to stick.
Visually inspect External Valve 3 at the rear remotes for physical damage, loose electrical connectors, or fluid leaks around the valve body and seals.
Test the wiring harness going to the Valve 3 solenoid for a short to ground (0V), a short to battery (12V), or an open circuit.
Check the FingerTIP 3 control switch in the cab. A faulty switch or uncalibrated joystick can throw a valve error.
Try operating the valve manually (if equipped with manual override levers) to determine if the spool is physically jammed or if the issue is purely electronic.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system before wrenching.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around External Hydraulic Valve 3 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during removal.
Address Electrical Faults
If diagnostics point to a wiring issue, repair the damaged harness or replace the faulty solenoid coil on Valve 3.
Valve Removal & Reseal
If the valve is leaking or sticking mechanically, disconnect the hydraulic lines and unbolt the valve section from the hydraulic block. Replace the internal O-rings and seals.
Valve Replacement
If the valve body is scored or the internal position sensor has failed, replace the entire External Hydraulic Valve 3 assembly.
Reassembly & Fluid Maintenance
Reinstall the valve and torque to OEM specifications. If the fluid was contaminated, drain the system, replace the hydraulic filters, and refill with fresh OEM UTTO fluid.
Clear Codes & Calibrate
Turn the key on, clear the error code from the control unit dashboard, and restart the engine to unlock the valve. If the tractor uses electronic FingerTIP controls, perform a valve calibration procedure via the Dash/TECU.
