0A.30.26

Massey Ferguson 0A.30.26 – Autotronic / Armrest / EHR controller: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the third electrohydraulic spool valve (rear remote) circuit. The system has detected an electrical anomaly (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or voltage out of range) or a mechanical failure where the valve is not responding correctly to the command signal from the cab controls.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical electrohydraulic valve block LED at the rear of the tractor (solid red indicates power, green indicates moving, flashing indicates an internal fault).

  2. Check Autotronic / Linkage Calculator for specific DC and TC error codes via the cab display (key on, clutch in/release, hold up arrow) to narrow down the electrical fault.

  3. Inspect the solenoid connector at Valve 3 and the wiring harness for corrosion, moisture, loose pins, or rub points.

  4. Test battery voltage under load and check ground integrity, as low voltage or a weak charging system can trigger false EHR and spool valve codes.

  5. Verify the external linkage is free to move and that the physical valves are returning to their center/neutral positions.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Retest

Clear the code using the tractor's diagnostic interface or a compatible scan tool to ensure it is not a transient voltage issue.

  2. Harness Repair

If the wiring inspection reveals chafing or a short, repair the damaged section of the harness and replace the connector plug at Valve 3 if the pins are corroded.

  3. Detent Modification

On certain models (like the 7600 series), spool valve detents can fail. It is sometimes possible to source and modify replacement detents rather than replacing the entire valve body.

  4. Valve Replacement

If the electrical circuit is intact, the LED is flashing an internal fault, and the detents are not the issue, the electrohydraulic spool valve has failed internally. Disconnect the hydraulic lines (relieving pressure first) and the electrical harness, unbolt the faulty Valve 3 slice from the hydraulic stack, and install the new valve.

  5. Calibration

After replacing the valve, the new spool valve must be calibrated to the tractor's Armrest/Autotronic controller so the system recognizes its travel limits and neutral position.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Electrohydraulic Spool Valve / External Hydraulic Remote Valve / EHR Control Valve

Exact AGCO part number depends on the tractor's serial number and hydraulic pump capacity (e.g., LS vs. TFLS).

  • Aftermarket Detent Kit

For 7600 series tractors, aftermarket detent kits can sometimes be sourced and modified to fit.
