Massey Ferguson 0A.30.28: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue
Issue description
This indicates a malfunction in the third external hydraulic remote (spool valve), which could be caused by an electrical connection problem, a voltage irregularity to the valve's solenoid, or a mechanical failure within the valve itself.

Check the cause
Connect a compatible diagnostic tool to the tractor to confirm the presence of code 0A.30.28 and check for any related voltage or connection codes
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector leading to the 3rd external hydraulic spool valve at the rear of the tractor for frayed wires, corrosion, or loose connections
Verify that the correct voltage is reaching the valve's solenoid when the 3rd remote is activated from the cab
Check the valve block and quick couplers (e.g., 1/2" ISO 5675 couplers) for physical leaks, back pressure issues, or mechanical binding
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical connections.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around the rear remote valves to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Address Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged connector or wiring fault, repair or replace the pigtail connector leading to Valve 3.
Remove the Valve
If the electrical circuit is sound but the valve is unresponsive or leaking, unbolt the 3rd spool valve from the lift cover/valve block assembly.
Rebuild or Replace
To Rebuild: Use an OEM spool valve repair kit to replace the internal O-rings and seals. To Replace: Install a new 3rd spool valve assembly if the internal bore is scored or the solenoid has completely failed.
Reassembly
Bolt the valve back into place, reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness, and top off the tractor's hydraulic fluid.
Test
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and operate the 3rd hydraulic remote to ensure proper flow and pressure. Clear the DTC using the diagnostic tool.
