Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the #3 rear remote valve for chafing, breaks, or corrosion

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at the 3rd spool valve and check for bent pins, moisture ingress, or debris

  3. Test for proper voltage and ground at the 3rd spool valve connector using a multimeter

  4. Test the resistance of the valve's solenoid coil to ensure it is not open or shorted

  5. Ensure the 1/2" ISO 5675 quick couplers are not blocked or damaged, which could cause a high-pressure deadhead situation

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the implement circuits.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts and ECU damage.

  3. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve stack (usually mounted directly on the lift cover under the seat or at the rear remote stack).

  4. Remove the Faulty Valve

Disconnect the electrical harness from Valve 3. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to the 3rd spool. Remove the tie-bolts holding the spool valve sections together. Carefully separate the 3rd valve section from the stack.

  5. Replace Seals/Valve

If the issue is mechanical (sticking spool), you may be able to rebuild it using new O-rings (NBR or FPM seals). If the solenoid or internal potentiometer is faulty, replace the entire 3rd spool valve section.

  6. Reassembly

Install the new valve section, ensuring the O-rings between the valve slices are properly seated. Torque the tie-bolts to OEM specifications.

  7. Reconnect & Bleed

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness. Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and operate the 3rd valve to bleed air from the system. Check for leaks.

  8. Clear Codes

Use an AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or compatible interface to clear the 0A.31.29 code from the ECU.
