0A.33.11

Massey Ferguson 0A.33.11 – Basic Control Unit ECU (A050) or Multifunction Armrest (MFA - A100) ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction or communication failure associated with the third rear hydraulic remote (spool valve). Typically triggered by an electrical connection problem on the hydraulic valve, a faulty spool position sensor, or the valve spool failing to return to the neutral position.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 3 for corrosion, moisture, or broken wires

  2. Check the spool position sensor value and test the solenoid for proper voltage and resistance

  3. Verify if the valve spool is physically stuck or binding, preventing it from returning to neutral

  4. Ensure the crossgate lever or fingertip spool switch on the armrest is calibrated and functioning properly

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/switches to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Access the Valve Stack

Locate the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor. Identify Valve 3 (usually the third slice from the inlet).

  3. Clean and Inspect

Thoroughly clean the area around Valve 3 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Disconnect the electrical connector and apply dielectric grease if only minor corrosion is present.

  4. Component Replacement

If the solenoid or spool position sensor fails electrical testing, remove the retaining screws and replace the faulty electronic component.

  5. Spool Valve Service

If the spool is binding, unbolt the tie-rods holding the valve stack together, remove Valve 3, and replace the spool valve section or install a spool valve seal/repair kit.

  6. Reassembly and Bleeding

Reassemble the valve stack, torque the hydraulic unions to OEM specifications, and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool (e.g., AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to clear the 0A.33.11 code and recalibrate the spool valve if a new sensor or valve slice was installed.
