Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Valve 3 for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing

  2. Check the hydraulic fluid to ensure it is at the correct level and free of contaminants that could jam the spool valve

  3. Test the solenoid on Valve 3 for proper resistance and ensure it is receiving voltage from the tractor's harness when actuated from the cab

  4. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to retrieve the code, clear it, and see if it returns upon actuating the #3 remote lever/button

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and cycle the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts while working on the valve solenoids.

  3. Access the Valve Stack

Locate the external hydraulic valve block (typically at the rear of the tractor, mounted directly on or near the lift cover). Identify Valve 3 in the stack.

  4. Remove the Valve

Disconnect the electrical connector to the valve's solenoid. Remove the securing bolts holding the valve to the base plate or adjacent spool sections.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

If rebuilding: Separate the valve sections, remove the old O-rings/seals, clean the spool, and install an OEM repair kit. If replacing: Mount the new 3rd spool valve assembly.

  6. Reassembly

Bolt the valve back into the stack, ensuring O-rings are properly seated between the sections. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, check for hydraulic leaks, and test the operation of the 3rd remote. Clear the 0A.33.12 code using a diagnostic tool.
