0A.33.21

Massey Ferguson 0A.33.21 – Tractor's onboard diagnostic system: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction associated with the third external hydraulic remote (spool valve) on the tractor, often pointing to a connection problem on a hydraulic valve or a signal voltage issue.

Check the cause

  1. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 3 on the rear hydraulic remote block and check for obvious signs of physical damage or hydraulic fluid leaks.

  2. Disconnect the electrical harness at Valve 3 and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

  3. Use a multimeter to verify that the valve's solenoid is receiving the correct signal voltage from the wiring harness when the valve is commanded from the cab.

  4. Test the resistance of the solenoid coil itself to ensure it hasn't shorted out or opened.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and cycle the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around External Hydraulic Valve 3 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Address Electrical Faults

If the diagnostic checks revealed a corroded connector, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect.

  4. Replace the Solenoid/Valve

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid fails resistance testing (or the valve is mechanically stuck), remove the retaining bolts holding the solenoid or the specific spool valve section to the main hydraulic block.

  5. Install New Part

Install the replacement valve or solenoid, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid. Torque bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery (if disconnected) and use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.33.21 DTC from the system. Test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
