Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 3 for security, damage, or corrosion

  2. Check for proper hydraulic fluid levels and fluid quality, as contaminated fluid can cause spool valves to stick

  3. Inspect the valve block for external leaks that might be resolved by tightening fittings or replacing O-rings/seals

  4. Check if the valve operates smoothly or is sticking in one direction, indicating internal mechanical failure or a failed solenoid

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Relieve all hydraulic system pressure before beginning work.

  2. Drain/Catch Fluid

Place a catch pan beneath the hydraulic valve block to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.

  3. Disconnect

Carefully disconnect the electrical solenoid connectors and hydraulic hoses routed to External Valve 3.

  4. Removal

Unbolt the faulty spool valve from the main hydraulic valve block assembly.

  5. Installation

Install the new external hydraulic valve, ensuring that all O-rings and mating surfaces are clean.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  7. Fluid Maintenance

Top off the hydraulic fluid with Massey Ferguson Premium hydraulic oil and replace the hydraulic filter/suction strainer to prevent contamination of the new valve.

  8. Calibration/Testing

Clear the DTC using a diagnostic tool and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation and leak-free performance.
