0A.3X.11

Massey Ferguson 0A.3X.11 – Autotronic 5: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the circuit or operation of the third rear hydraulic remote valve, usually due to an electrical connection problem, open circuit, short circuit, or calibration failure. The system typically blocks or locks the affected valve as a safety measure.

Check the cause

  1. Stop and re-run the engine to see if the system reactivates the valve (System Reset Check)

  2. Verify that the transmission/hydraulic oil level is adequate, as low fluid can cause valve pressure calibration failures

  3. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 3 for chafed wires, debris, or physical damage

  4. Check the electrical connector at the valve for moisture, corrosion, or loose pins

  5. Use a multimeter to test the valve's solenoid circuit for an open circuit, a short to ground (0V), or a short to power (+12V)

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve hydraulic pressure from the system.

  2. Access the Valve

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 3 at the rear remote valve block.

  3. Clean and Re-seat

Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve solenoid. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect it.

  4. Test the Solenoid

If the code persists after cleaning the connector, disconnect it again and measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. If the reading is out of specification, the solenoid is faulty.

  5. Replace Components

If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the affected section. If the solenoid fails the bench test, replace the solenoid coil. If the valve spool itself is mechanically seized, the valve section must be replaced.

  6. Clear Codes

After repair, start the engine and delete the error code from the control unit dashboard to unlock the valve. Test the remote for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 3 Solenoid / Electronic Spool Valve Assembly

When ordering through an AGCO/Massey Ferguson dealer, you must provide the tractor's serial number to ensure the correct electro-hydraulic valve section or replacement solenoid coil is supplied.
