   Check the Valve LEDs: Look directly at the LED indicators on the electronic valves. They should be solid red when receiving power and turn green when receiving input to move. A flashing LED on valve 3 confirms a fault at the valve itself.

   Check Linkage and Valve Position: Verify the position of the external linkage and ensure the valves are physically returning to the center position.

   Electrical & Harness Inspection: Check the solenoid connector at the valve, inspect the wiring harness for rub points, test the coil resistance, and verify ground integrity (open circuits or shorts to ground are common causes).

   Autotronic Diagnostics: Turn the key on, push the clutch in and release to clear the right screen, then hold down the up arrow key to access the Autotronic menu on the left screen. Check for secondary DC or TC error codes.

   Resolve Electrical Faults

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a rubbed harness or poor ground at the solenoid connector, repair the wiring and clear the codes.

   Detent Modification (Alternative Fix)

   If the valve is mechanically failing to center or lock, check the spool valve detents. For some models (like the 7600 series), it is possible to source and modify replacement detents (costing around £100) rather than replacing the entire valve.

   Replace the Spool Slice

   If the valve's internal electronics or pilot pressure controls have failed, the complete electric spool slice must be replaced.

   Programming

   After installing a new electric spool slice, the new unit must be programmed to the tractor's control module for it to function correctly.
