Massey Ferguson 0A.40.1A: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault, connection problem, or performance issue specifically isolated to the 4th external hydraulic spool valve.

Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors going to External Valve 4 for corrosion, loose pins, or broken wires.
Check the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. If the fluid is dark, smells burnt, or looks milky (water contamination), it must be changed.
Check for a partially blocked hydraulic filter restricting flow to the valve system.
Inspect the external valve block, fittings, and O-rings for visible leaks or seepage that could cause a pressure drop.
Use a hydraulic gauge to test the system pressure at the remote couplers to determine if the issue is isolated to Valve 4 or if it is a broader pump/relief valve issue.
If the valve is physically stuck, try manually moving the pump control valve lever back and forth to see if it releases.

Relieve Pressure
Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered to the ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system.
Drain/Flush Fluid
If the fluid was contaminated during your checks, drain the hydraulic fluid and remove the old hydraulic filters.
Remove the Valve
Disconnect the electrical harness and hydraulic lines routed to External Valve 4. Unbolt the spool valve assembly from the hydraulic control block.
Overhaul or Replace
Disassemble the valve on a clean workbench. Use an OEM repair kit to replace all internal O-rings, seals, and check valves, or install a new or reconditioned spool valve assembly.
Reinstallation
Bolt the repaired/new valve back into the assembly. Reconnect all hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.
Refill and Test
Install a new hydraulic filter and refill the system with clean OEM UTTO fluid. Start the tractor, allow the system to warm up, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leak-free performance.
