Massey Ferguson 0A.40.24: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction, restriction, or electrical fault associated with the 4th external hydraulic remote/spool valve on the tractor.

Check the hydraulic/transmission oil for contamination (dirt or debris) and inspect the hydraulic oil filter for blockages
Inspect the external couplers on Valve 4 and associated hoses for damage, blockages, or wear that could restrict pressure
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector going to the Valve 4 solenoid for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins
Test if the spool valve is physically sticking, which can cause dead or slow hydraulics and trigger a fault

Service the Fluid/Filters
If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated or the filter is blocked, drain the hydraulic fluid, replace the transmission/hydraulic filter, and refill with clean, OEM-spec hydraulic fluid.
Clean/Repair the Electrical Connection
If the diagnostic check revealed a wiring issue at the Valve 4 solenoid, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, repair any frayed wires, and securely reconnect the harness.
Free or Rebuild the Spool Valve
If the valve is mechanically stuck, remove the Valve 4 assembly from the hydraulic block. Clean the spool and valve body. If it is scored or heavily worn, the valve section will need to be replaced.
Clear Codes and Test
After reassembly, use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.40.24 code from the onboard diagnostic system. Test the #4 remote with an implement to ensure proper pressure and flow.
