   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the External Hydraulic Valve 4 solenoid at the rear valve stack for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion in the connector.

   Perform a swap test by moving the electrical connector from Valve 4 to another valve (e.g., Valve 3) to see if the fault code follows the wiring or stays with the physical valve.

   Use a multimeter to check the resistance and continuity of the Valve 4 solenoid to ensure it hasn't shorted or opened.

   Ensure the tractor has adequate hydraulic fluid and that the hydraulic pump is building proper pressure.

   Depressurize the System

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the external hydraulic system.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear hydraulic valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect Electronics

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from External Hydraulic Valve 4.

   Replace the Faulty Component

   If diagnostics point to a failed solenoid, unbolt the solenoid from the valve spool and replace it. If the entire spool valve is internally damaged or sticking, unbolt the Valve 4 slice from the hydraulic manifold block and install the replacement valve slice.

   Reassemble and Test

   Torque all bolts to OEM specifications, reconnect the wiring harness, and top off the hydraulic fluid.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool/interface device to clear the 0A.40.2A code from the system. Test the remote to ensure proper operation.
