0A.41.13

Massey Ferguson 0A.41.13 – Mid Mount Valve Module or Autotronic / Hydraulic control module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

This indicates a fault, often an electrical or connection problem, with the 4th electrohydraulic spool valve (remote valve) on the tractor.

Check the cause

  1. Check the Valve LED Indicators on the electronic valve itself (solid red indicates power, green indicates input to move, flashing indicates an internal fault)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at Valve 4 for corrosion, damage, or loose pins

  3. Check the Autotronic screens for secondary DC and TC error codes (turn key on, push and release clutch to clear right screen, hold up arrow to access left screen)

  4. Verify that the external linkage and valves are in the center position. The linkage calculator can also be used to diagnose error codes on the electrohydraulic spool valve

  5. Perform basic hydraulic checks: verify hydraulic/transmission oil level, check for clogged filters, and inspect quick-release couplers and dust caps for dirt ingress

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Area

Before disconnecting any hydraulic components, thoroughly clean the area around External Valve 4 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  2. Address Electrical Faults

If the wiring harness or connector is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Re-seat the connection and check if the LED stops flashing.

  3. Replace Detents (If Applicable)

On certain models (like the 7600 series), the spool valve detents can fail. It is possible to purchase and modify detent kits to fit, which is a cost-effective alternative to replacing the entire valve.

  4. Replace the Electrohydraulic Valve

If the electrical connection is sound but the valve's internal pilot valve or digital device has failed, the complete electrohydraulic spool valve must be replaced. Massey Ferguson typically sells this as a complete unit.

  5. Clear Codes

After replacing the valve or repairing the connection, use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard interface to clear the DTCs and test the remote valve for proper operation.
