Issue description

Malfunction in the electrohydraulic spool valve number 4, which is responsible for controlling external hydraulic implements (SCVs) at the rear of the tractor. This indicates an electrical communication failure, a sticking spool/detent, or an internal solenoid failure within that specific valve slice.

Check the cause

  1. Check Valve LED Indicators: Look directly at the electronic valve block at the rear of the tractor. Solid red indicates receiving power, green indicates receiving an input command. Flashing on valve 4 indicates a localized fault.

  2. Inspect Cab Controls: Ensure the joystick or fingertip switches in the cab are not physically sticking and are sending the correct signal.

  3. Wiring and Connections: Inspect the wiring harness and the DIN/electrical connector at spool valve 4 for corrosion, moisture ingress, or broken wires.

  4. Check Secondary Codes: Use the tractor's diagnostic menu to check for secondary DC or TC error codes that might narrow down whether the issue is a low amp draw, high amp draw, or open circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

    Identify the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor and locate valve slice #4.

  2. Disconnect Electronics

    Unplug the electrical harness connector from the valve's solenoid/control module.

  3. Address Sticking Detents (If Applicable)

    If the valve is mechanically failing to return to neutral, remove the end cap of the spool valve and replace just the detent mechanism.

  4. Remove the Valve Slice

    If the internal solenoid or position sensor has failed, the complete valve slice must be replaced. Unbolt the tie rods that hold the hydraulic valve stack together.

  5. Extract and Replace

    Carefully slide out valve slice 4. Ensure you do not lose or damage the O-rings between the adjacent slices.

  6. Reassembly

    Install the new electrohydraulic valve slice with new O-rings. Re-torque the tie rods to the OEM specification to prevent leaks.

  7. Reconnect and Test

    Reconnect the electrical harness. Top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Start the tractor, test the SCV operation from the cab, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.41.19 fault code.
