Massey Ferguson 0A.41.1B: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

The tractor's system has detected an electrical or mechanical fault—likely a poor connection, wiring issue, or cable failure—preventing proper communication with or operation of the #4 rear remote/spool valve.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and verify codes using a compatible diagnostic tool to confirm 0A.41.1B is active and look for accompanying connection codes like 0A.41.FF

  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 4 (Spool Valve 4) at the rear of the tractor for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damaged wires

  3. For models utilizing mechanical spool valve cables with electronic monitoring, inspect the spool valve cable for binding, stretching, or breakage

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Ensure the tractor is off and hydraulic pressure is relieved from the rear remotes before servicing.

  2. Repair Wiring/Connections

If the diagnostic check revealed a broken wire or corroded connector at Valve 4, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner or splice/repair the damaged harness section.

  3. Replace the Spool Valve Cable

If the valve is cable-actuated and the cable is seized, disconnect the cable at the lever and the valve block, route the new OEM cable, and secure it.

  4. Replace Valve Components

If the valve itself is internally faulty or leaking, remove the retaining bolts on the spool valve block. Replace the faulty spool valve coupling, O-rings, or the entire valve section as needed.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the diagnostic tool and clear the DTCs to verify the repair.
