0A.41.1E

Massey Ferguson 0A.41.1E – Hydraulic ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

This fault code indicates a malfunction or restriction in the 4th remote/spool valve of the tractor's external hydraulic system. The underlying condition is typically an electrical communication failure, a physically stuck spool valve, or a pressure and flow restriction at that specific remote, preventing the electronic actuator from moving the spool.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness, solenoid connector, and ground at External Valve 4 for corrosion, damage, or loose pins (electrical communication failure)

  2. Check the hydraulic/transmission oil level and quality, looking for dirty/contaminated oil or blocked filters

  3. Inspect the quick couplers at remote 4 for blockages or damage, and ensure hoses are not kinked or leaking

  4. Determine if the spool valve is physically stuck, which can cause dead or slow hydraulics

Repair steps

  1. Relieve system pressure

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the system before working on the valves.

  2. Clean the area

Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block (specifically the 4th remote section) to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  3. Address electrical faults

If the diagnostic check revealed a wiring issue, repair the damaged wire or replace the solenoid connector. Clear the code and test.

  4. Service the spool valve

If the electrical connection is sound, remove the solenoid/actuator from Valve 4.

  5. Clean or rebuild valve

Extract the spool. Inspect for scoring, damaged O-rings, or debris. Clean the valve body and spool thoroughly. Replace the O-rings/seals.

  6. Reassembly and bleed

Reinstall the valve components and torque to OEM specifications. Top off the hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and cycle the 4th remote to bleed air from the system.

  7. Clear codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.41.1E code and verify it does not return under load.
