Massey Ferguson 0A.41.23 – Tractor Control Unit (TCU) or Implement/Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction or connection problem on a hydraulic valve specifically targeting the 4th rear remote/spool valve in the tractor's hydraulic stack.

Inspect the wiring harness and electrical plug connecting to the 4th external hydraulic valve for chafing, corrosion, or a loose connector.
Test the pilot pressure control solenoid for the electric spool valve to ensure it is receiving the correct voltage and operating smoothly.
Temporarily swap the electrical connection from Valve 3 to Valve 4 (if the harness allows) to see if the fault code follows the valve or stays with the wiring harness.

Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and relieve hydraulic system pressure. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Valve Stack
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 4 in the rear remote valve block assembly.
Disconnect Components
Remove the rubber dust cover/plug and disconnect the electrical harness from the electric spool slice.
Remove the Faulty Slice
Unbolt the faulty electric spool slice (valve head unit) from the main hydraulic block. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic fluid.
Install the New Valve
Mount the replacement electric spool slice, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Reattach the electrical harness and install a new protective plug/dust cover if the old one is degraded.
Programming
A new electric spool slice is not 'plug-and-play.' It must be programmed and calibrated to the tractor's control system using a Massey Ferguson dealer diagnostic tool.
Test
Reconnect the battery, top off the hydraulic fluid, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leaks.
