0A.41.29

Massey Ferguson 0A.41.29 – Auxiliary Hydraulic Valve Controller / Implement Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Triggered when the tractor's onboard diagnostic system detects an electrical or operational fault with the 4th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem, such as an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or a sensor supply voltage that is out of range at the valve's solenoid.

Check the cause

  1. Identify the Valve: Locate the #4 external hydraulic valve at the rear remote stack.

  2. Visual Inspection: Check the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the #4 valve for rub points, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Electrical Testing: Use a multimeter to test the solenoid coil resistance. Check for an open circuit or a short to ground.

  4. Voltage Check: Verify that the sensor/solenoid supply voltage is within the specified range and that the ground integrity is solid.

  5. Swap Test: If possible, swap the solenoid coil from Valve 4 with Valve 3. If the fault code changes to an 'External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue' (e.g., 0A.32.xx), the solenoid coil is the definitive culprit.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Relieve Pressure

Ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system by cycling the hydraulic levers/controls.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the #4 external hydraulic valve solenoid.

  4. Harness Repair

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, repair the broken wire or replace the damaged connector.

  5. Replace Solenoid/Valve

If the solenoid coil is dead, remove the retaining nut/fastener at the end of the spool and slide the old coil off. Install the new solenoid coil. If the internal spool is mechanically stuck or the valve body has failed internally, the entire external hydraulic valve section must be unbolted from the remote stack and replaced.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the electrical harness and restore battery power.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.41.29 DTC from the system. Test the hydraulic remote to ensure proper operation.
