Massey Ferguson 0A.41.2A – Hydraulic Control Unit or Armrest Autotronic: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue
Issue description
Indicates a malfunction, typically an electrical or connection problem, on the number 4 external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The system detects that the signal from the valve's position sensor or solenoid circuit is out of range, missing, or experiencing a connection failure.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 4 at the rear of the tractor for rub points, frayed wires, or physical damage.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the valve solenoid and check for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or bent pins.
Test the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter to ensure it is within OEM specifications, and check the circuit for continuity (no open circuit, short to ground, or short to power).
Verify that the FingerTIP control or joystick on the armrest corresponding to Valve 4 is functioning correctly and not physically stuck.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Clean and Reconnect
If the diagnostic checks revealed a dirty or loose connector, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect the harness.
Replace Faulty Component
If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil fails the resistance test, or the valve position sensor is faulty, remove the retaining bolts on the Valve 4 slice in the hydraulic stack and replace the solenoid/sensor assembly (or the entire valve slice, depending on the specific model's modularity).
Clear the Code
Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on. Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's dashboard control unit to clear the 0A.41.2A error code.
Reactivate the Valve
The valve affected by the error code remains locked until the system resets. Stop and re-run the engine to reactivate the valve.
Test Operation
Actuate the number 4 remote using the cab controls to ensure proper hydraulic flow and verify that the code does not return.
