Issue description

Malfunction in the electro-hydraulic control circuit for the 4th rear remote spool valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical signal issue (such as a short circuit, open circuit, or missing signal from the valve position sensor line), a connection problem at the hydraulic valve solenoid, or a mechanically stuck valve that the controller cannot move to the commanded position.

Check the cause

  1. Check the Valve LED Indicator: Look at the LED on the electronic valve itself. It should be solid red when receiving power and turn green when receiving input to move. If the LED is flashing, the valve is actively registering an internal fault.

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the solenoid connector on Valve 4 for corrosion, dirt, or moisture. Inspect the wiring harness for rub points, open circuits, or shorts to ground.

  3. Test Coil Resistance: Use a multimeter to check the coil resistance and ground integrity of the Valve 4 solenoid.

  4. Check Linkage and Valve Position: Ensure the external linkage is positioned correctly and that the valves are physically returning to their center (neutral) position.

  5. Inspect Hydraulic Fluid and Filters: Check the hydraulic oil level and condition (look for milky oil indicating water, or metal particles). A blocked hydraulic/transmission filter can cause pressure drops that trigger valve faults.

Repair steps

  1. Clear the Code to Unlock the Valve

    When code 0A.43.13 is active, the control unit dashboard will block the affected valve for safety. You must first clear the error code from the dashboard or via a diagnostic tool to unlock the valve and test its operation.

  2. Repair Wiring

    If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to 0V or a broken wire in the valve position sensor line, repair the harness or replace the spool valve cable.

  3. Clean or Replace the Solenoid/Valve

    If the electrical connections are sound but the valve remains unresponsive or the LED continues to flash an internal error, the electro-hydraulic spool valve or its solenoid is likely faulty. Remove the valve assembly, check for debris causing it to stick, and replace the solenoid or the entire spool valve block if internal electrical failure has occurred.

  4. Service the Hydraulics (If Contaminated)

    If the oil is degraded or the filter is blocked, drain the hydraulic fluid, replace the hydraulic/transmission filter, and refill with the OEM-specified hydraulic fluid to prevent the new valve from sticking.

  5. Recalibrate

    After replacing the valve or cables, cycle the tractor's power. You may need to use the linkage calculator or Autotronic diagnostic screen to ensure the new valve is detected and calibrated.
