Massey Ferguson 0A.43.1A – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) controller or Autotronic 5 / Armrest control unit: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction on the 4th external hydraulic remote (spool) valve. This is typically triggered by a connection problem, an electrical short/open circuit on the valve's solenoid, a mechanical failure where the valve spool cannot return to neutral, or a calibration error.

Check the cause
Check the solenoid connector on Valve 4 for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins, and inspect the wiring harness leading to the valve for rub points or breaks.
Test the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter to ensure it is not open or shorted to ground.
Manually check the linkage pins and the valve spool to ensure it is not physically stuck and failing to return to the neutral position.
Check the diagnostic display to see if the valve has lost its calibration (often flagged alongside EHR checksum or neutral setpoint errors).
Repair steps
Clear the Code
Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's dashboard interface to clear the code and cycle the engine to see if the fault returns immediately (indicating a hard electrical fault) or upon actuation (indicating a mechanical/pressure issue).
Inspect and Clean
If the harness is damaged, repair the wiring. Clean the solenoid contacts with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.
Address Mechanical Wear
If the spool is sticking, inspect the valve detents. On some models (like the 7600 series), the detents can wear out. Detent kits can sometimes be sourced and modified to fix the sticking issue.
Replace the Valve/Solenoid
If the solenoid coil has failed or the internal spool is irreparably scored/stuck, remove the hydraulic pressure from the system and replace the electronic spool valve assembly.
Recalibrate
After replacing the valve or repairing the connection, use the tractor's diagnostic terminal to perform a spool valve calibration procedure so the EHR learns the new neutral and end-travel setpoints.
Parts you might need
(3)Electronic Spool Valve Assembly (4th Spool)
427441M11Exact part numbers vary heavily by the tractor's hydraulic setup (open vs. closed center) and series. For 7600/7700 series, order the specific assembly matched to your VIN.
Spool Valve Detent Kit
For 7600 series tractors, aftermarket or modified detent kits can sometimes be purchased to repair a sticking valve.
Hydraulic Valve Solenoid Coil
Generic replacement coils can be sourced if the mechanical valve is fine but the coil has failed (verify voltage and connector type).
