Check the cause

  1. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 4 on the rear hydraulic block. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the valve's solenoid for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at the valve. Check for water ingress, dirt, bent pins, or corrosion, which are common causes for connection problem codes.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the valve's solenoid coil to ensure it is not in an open circuit or short-circuited state. Verify that the ground and signal wires have continuity back to the control module.

  4. If the valve block allows, temporarily swap the electrical connection with an adjacent known-good valve (e.g., Valve 3) to see if the fault code follows the wiring or stays with the valve solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure by cycling the hydraulic controls.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around External Hydraulic Valve 4 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty valve solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid/Valve

Depending on the specific valve block design, remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the electronic solenoid or the entire spool valve cartridge.

  5. Install the New Part

Insert the replacement solenoid or valve cartridge. Torque the retaining fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.

  6. Reconnect and Clear Codes

Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor on and use a compatible diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to clear the 0A.4X.11 fault code from the system.

  7. Test Operation

Actuate the 4th hydraulic remote to ensure proper function and verify that the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 4 Solenoid / Electronic Spool Valve Assembly

Must be matched to the specific tractor's serial number and hydraulic valve stack configuration via an AGCO/Massey Ferguson parts catalog.
