Massey Ferguson 0A.4X.19 – Onboard Diagnostic System (OBD): External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue
Issue description
Indicates a malfunction in the tractor's hydraulic remote system, highly likely an electrical fault such as a disconnected plug, damaged wiring harness, or a failed solenoid on the 4th rear remote spool valve.

Check the cause
Use a compatible diagnostic interface device to confirm the presence of 0A.4X.19 and check for any accompanying codes (like 0A.41.FF) that might isolate the issue further.
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 4 at the rear remote stack and inspect the electrical connector plugging into the valve's solenoid for dirt, corrosion, or moisture.
Trace the wiring harness from Valve 4 back toward the ECU, looking for chafing, pinched wires, or breaks.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the solenoid coil on Valve 4 to ensure it hasn't shorted or opened.
Verify that the valve is receiving the correct voltage signal from the controller when the remote is activated in the cab.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Clean the Connection
Disconnect the wiring harness from External Hydraulic Valve 4. Clean the pins on both the solenoid and the harness connector using electrical contact cleaner.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, splice in a new connector or repair the wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.
Replace Solenoid/Valve
If the wiring is intact but the solenoid failed the resistance test, unbolt the faulty solenoid from the spool valve assembly and install a replacement. (In some sealed electro-hydraulic units, the entire valve slice may need to be replaced).
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery and the valve harness. Connect your diagnostic tool and clear the DTCs from the system.
Test
Start the tractor and operate the 4th hydraulic remote to ensure the code does not return and the hydraulic flow is functioning correctly.
