Issue description
The onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction on the 4th external hydraulic remote/spool valve. This indicates an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power), an out-of-range voltage signal, or a communication failure with the valve's pilot pressure control solenoid.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the 4-pin connector leading to the 4th external hydraulic spool valve at the rear of the tractor for rub points, damaged wires, corrosion, or loose connections.
Use a multimeter to check the coil resistance of the solenoid on valve 4, verify ground integrity, and check for open circuits or shorts to ground or power.
Check the voltage supply to the valve to ensure it is within the normal operating range (the TECU will shut down the valve output stage if it detects undervoltage below 8V or severe overvoltage).
Verify that the CAN messages from the armrest joystick (FingerTIP controls) to the TECU are being transmitted correctly, as a missing signal or uncalibrated joystick can trigger valve faults.
Ensure the spool valve is not mechanically stuck and that the spool deflection is operating normally.
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, relieve hydraulic pressure by cycling the controls, and disconnect the battery.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the rear hydraulic remote valve block. Identify the 4th spool valve slice (usually the 4th from the base or clearly marked).
Disconnect Wiring
Carefully unplug the electrical connector (typically a 4-pin connector) from the electrohydraulic spool valve slice.
Remove the Valve/Solenoid
Unbolt the faulty electric spool slice or pilot pressure control head from the hydraulic block assembly. Be prepared for some hydraulic oil spillage; have a catch pan and rags ready.
Install the New Part
Fit the replacement electric spool slice, ensuring all O-rings and seals are correctly seated to prevent leaks. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
Reconnect and Calibrate
Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery. Program or calibrate the new electrohydraulic spool valve/slice to the tractor's TECU using a dealer diagnostic tool (like AGCO EDT) to ensure the spool deflection and flow rates are recognized.
Test Operation
Start the tractor, check for hydraulic leaks, and operate the 4th remote via the armrest joystick to confirm the fault code is cleared and the valve functions properly.
