0A.50.1A

Massey Ferguson 0A.50.1A – Implement/hydraulic control module (Autotronic or EHRB): External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction associated with the 5th external hydraulic remote (spool) valve, indicating an electrical circuit problem (open circuit, short to ground, or short to power at the valve's solenoid), a sensor signal issue, or a mechanical condition where the valve is stuck or not responding to the controller's commanded position.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 5 for rub points, frayed wires, or corrosion

  2. Check the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter and verify ground integrity

  3. Check for visible hydraulic fluid leaks around the valve block, which can indicate failed O-rings causing pressure loss

  4. Check if the valve is mechanically unresponsive due to debris or internal wear causing the hydraulic spool to stick or jam

  5. Verify that the hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and that the hydraulic filters are not clogged

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the rear hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid on External Hydraulic Valve 5.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the mounting hardware securing the #5 spool valve to the hydraulic block. Carefully pull the valve away from the manifold.

  5. Inspect/Replace Seals

Remove the old O-rings/seals between the valve and the block. Always install new, lubricated O-rings when remounting a valve to prevent leaks.

  6. Install New Valve/Solenoid

Mount the replacement valve or solenoid coil onto the block. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  7. Reconnect and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost, and test the operation of the #5 remote to ensure the fault code clears and there are no leaks.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electronic Spool Valve Assembly (External Hydraulic Valve)

OEM Part Number varies by model.

  • Valve Solenoid Coil

Often available separately if the mechanical valve is fine but the electrical coil has failed.

  • Hydraulic Valve O-Ring / Seal Kit

Required whenever the valve is removed from the block.
