0A.51.24

Massey Ferguson 0A.51.24 – Hydraulic Valve Control: External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system detected a malfunction in the circuit or operation of the 5th rear external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve), typically pointing to an electrical connection problem, a solenoid circuit issue, or a mechanical failure.

Check the cause

  1. Check the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 5 (located on the rear hydraulic valve stack) for dirt, corrosion, moisture, or loose pins

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the valve for rub points, breaks, or shorts to the tractor chassis

  3. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the valve's solenoid coil to ensure it is within OEM specifications and not showing an open or shorted circuit

  4. Verify that the ground connection for the valve circuit is clean and secure

  5. Ensure there are no physical leaks around the valve block and that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level

Repair steps

  1. Relieve pressure

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and actuate the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Locate valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 5 on the rear remote stack.

  3. Clean and inspect

Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve solenoid. Clean the contacts thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring is damaged, repair or replace the affected harness section.

  4. Remove solenoid/valve

If the solenoid coil fails the resistance test, unbolt and remove the solenoid (or the entire valve slice, depending on whether the unit is sealed).

  5. Install new part

Install the new solenoid or valve assembly. Torque the mounting bolts to the specifications outlined in your specific model's service manual.

  6. Reconnect harness

    Reconnect the electrical harness securely.

  7. Check fluid

Top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost during the replacement.

  8. Clear codes and test

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.51.24 fault code from the system. Test the operation of the remote valve to ensure the issue is resolved.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • External Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly / Hydraulic Valve Solenoid

Exact OEM part numbers are highly specific to the tractor's serial number and build configuration. Must be replaced with exact OEM electronic equivalents.
