0A.51.26

Massey Ferguson 0A.51.26 – Onboard diagnostic system: External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction associated with the 5th remote hydraulic spool valve (directional control valve), indicating a failure in the valve's ability to properly regulate hydraulic fluid flow or pressure.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the hydraulic oil for contamination (dirt/debris) and check the hydraulic/transmission filters for blockages

  2. Check for damaged couplers, faulty hoses, and visible fluid leaks around Valve 5

  3. Test the wiring, plugs, and sockets leading to the Valve 5 solenoid for an open circuit or a short circuit

  4. Check for mechanical binding to determine if the valve is sticking or jamming due to internal wear or debris

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Verify

Use a compatible diagnostic tool to read the code, clear it, and see if it returns immediately (indicating a hard electrical fault) or upon operation (indicating a mechanical/pressure fault).

  2. Service the Basics

If the hydraulic fluid is dirty or the filter is clogged, drain the fluid, replace the hydraulic/transmission filter, and refill with clean OEM-spec fluid.

  3. Address Electrical Faults

If diagnostic testing reveals a short or open circuit at the solenoid for Valve 5, repair the damaged wiring harness. If the wiring is intact but the coil fails a resistance test, replace the solenoid coil.

  4. Free a Stuck Valve

If the valve is mechanically stuck, you can sometimes release it by manually moving the pump control valve lever back and forth, or by repeatedly picking up and dropping the lift arms (if safely applicable).

  5. Valve Overhaul/Replacement

If the valve remains stuck, leaks, or fails to operate after electrical issues are ruled out, remove the Valve 5 assembly. Clean the valve chamber, replace the internal seals/O-rings, or replace the entire directional control spool valve if internal scoring or wear is present.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 5 (Directional Control Valve / Spool Valve)

OEM part number varies by model

  • Valve Solenoid Coil

Replacement coil for the electro-hydraulic spool

  • Hydraulic / Transmission Oil Filter

Replace if restricted or as part of standard maintenance

  • Hydraulic Fluid

    OEM-specified hydraulic/transmission fluid
