Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #5 hydraulic valve for corrosion, loose pins, or broken wires

  2. Verify the hydraulic/transmission fluid level and condition, checking for dirty oil or a blocked filter

  3. Look for visible fluid leakage around the #5 valve block indicating failed seals

  4. Test if the valve is physically unresponsive or jammed due to debris or internal wear

  5. Ensure the quick couplers and hoses connected to the #5 remote are not damaged or blocked

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and actuate the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve all residual pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the external hydraulic valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during removal.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the #5 valve solenoid.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the #5 valve section from the hydraulic remote stack. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic fluid.

  5. Inspect/Rebuild/Replace

If the valve is simply jammed with debris, it may be cleaned and rebuilt with new O-rings/seals. If the solenoid has failed electrically or the spool is heavily scored, the valve assembly must be replaced.

  6. Reinstall

Install the new or repaired valve, torque the mounting bolts to factory specifications, and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Test

Top off the hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and test the #5 remote for proper operation and leak-free performance. Clear the DTC using a compatible diagnostic tool.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • External Hydraulic Spool Valve (Remote Valve #5) / Electro-Hydraulic Valve Solenoid

Must be matched to the specific tractor's VIN/Serial number to ensure compatibility with the existing hydraulic stack (e.g., closed-center vs. open-center systems).

  • Hydraulic/Transmission fluid

  • Replacement hydraulic filters
