   Locate External Hydraulic Valve 5 (usually the 5th spool valve in the rear remote stack).

   Inspect the electrical connector at the valve solenoid for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture ingress.

   Trace the wiring harness back from Valve 5 to the ECU, looking for chafing, breaks, or pinched wires.

   Test the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter to ensure it is within OEM specifications (to rule out a shorted or open coil).

   Relieve Pressure

   Ensure the tractor is turned off, implements are lowered to the ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical harness from the Valve 5 solenoid. If the harness is damaged, repair or replace the affected wiring segment.

   Remove the Valve

   If the valve itself has failed internally or the solenoid is dead, unbolt the hydraulic lines and remove the spool valve from the remote stack.

   Install Replacement

   Mount the new hydraulic valve, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reattach the hydraulic lines and electrical connector. Start the tractor, clear the DTCs using a compatible diagnostic tool, and test the 5th remote function to ensure the code does not return.
