Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector going to External Valve 5 for corrosion, bent pins, or frayed wires

  2. Perform a swap test by moving the electrical connection/solenoid from Valve 5 to another valve (like Valve 4) to see if the fault follows the solenoid or stays with the wiring harness

  3. Check hydraulic fluid level and ensure hydraulic filters are not clogged, as poor fluid flow can cause valve actuation issues

  4. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the code and cycle the tractor's hydraulics to determine if it is an active hard fault or a stored intermittent issue

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic remote levers/switches to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Battery

Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts while working on the valve's wiring.

  3. Remove Connections

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 5 on the rear hydraulic manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector from the valve solenoid.

  4. Disconnect Hoses

Mark and disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to the valve slice. Cap the lines immediately to prevent contamination.

  5. Unbolt the Valve

Remove the tie-bolts or mounting bolts holding the spool valve slice to the main hydraulic block.

  6. Install New Valve

Mount the replacement valve, ensuring all O-rings and mating seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid.

  7. Reassembly

Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector.

  8. Bleed and Test

Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and top off the hydraulic fluid. Operate the valve multiple times to bleed air from the system. Check for leaks and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.53.26 code.
