0A.60.13

Massey Ferguson 0A.60.13 – Hydraulic Control Module or Tractor/Transmission ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction associated with the 6th external hydraulic remote/spool valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem to the valve's solenoid/slice, a sticky spool caused by contaminated oil, or an internal mechanical failure (such as a broken return spring or worn seals causing internal bypassing).

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to External Valve 6 for electrical connection problems (most common trigger)

  2. Check the hydraulic oil for dirt or contamination, which can cause the spool to stick

  3. Perform a spool leakage check: Position the control handle in 'Neutral', connect a hydraulic hand pump to one of the control valve ports, and pressurize to 2500 psi. Inability to pressurize indicates oil leaking around the spool

Repair steps

  1. Disassemble

Remove and disassemble the affected external hydraulic control valve (Valve 6).

  2. Clean and Inspect

Thoroughly clean the valve to ensure no foreign contamination is present. Inspect the spool and bore for scoring or damage.

  3. Replace Wear Parts

Inspect the detent kit, return/centering spring, and seals. Replace any worn O-rings, broken return springs, or worn detent kits using an OEM repair kit.

  4. Reassemble and Retest

Reassemble the valve and repeat the spool leakage check (pressurizing to 2500 psi).

  5. Replace Valve (If Necessary)

If no pressure can be obtained after rebuilding, or if the electrical slice has suffered an internal short/failure, the entire valve assembly must be replaced. Note: If replacing an electric spool slice, the new unit will need to be programmed to the tractor's ECU.
