0A.60.1E

Massey Ferguson 0A.60.1E: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, connection problem, or performance failure associated with the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) on the tractor. This can result in a drop in hydraulic pressure, slow response times, or jerky/erratic movements when trying to control attachments.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, looking for contamination such as metal shavings or dust, and ensure the filter was changed within the last 300-500 hours.

  2. Inspect the external hydraulic valve 6, hoses, couplers, and seals for visible leaks or physical damage.

  3. Check the wiring harness and electrical connectors going to the electric spool slice/valve for broken wires, corroded pins, or loose plugs.

  4. Perform an operational test manually or via cab controls to determine if the valve is physically stuck or if the issue is purely electrical.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure before beginning work.

  2. Drain/Flush Fluid (If Contaminated)

If the diagnostic check revealed contaminated fluid, drain the hydraulic fluid and replace the hydraulic filter.

  3. Disconnect Valve

Disconnect the electrical harness plugged into External Hydraulic Valve 6.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the hydraulic lines connected to the valve, capping them to prevent contamination. Unbolt the spool slice from the valve bank.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

Depending on the diagnosis, either rebuild the valve using an OEM repair kit (replacing internal seals and O-rings) or install a completely new electric spool slice.

  6. Reinstall

Bolt the new/rebuilt valve back into the valve bank. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Programming

If replacing an electric spool slice on modern series tractors, the new valve unit must be programmed to the tractor's ECU using a compatible diagnostic tool.

  8. Test

Refill the system with clean UTTO hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leak-free performance.
