Massey Ferguson 0A.60.21 – Vehicle Control Module or Hydraulic/Transmission ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
A malfunction associated with the 6th external remote hydraulic spool valve, typically caused by an electrical connection problem to the valve, a stuck/jammed valve spool due to debris, a blocked filter restricting oil flow, or a failure of the valve itself.

Check the cause
Check the UTTO fluid level and condition, and inspect the hydraulic/transmission oil filter for blockages (fluid restriction cause)
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to External Hydraulic Valve 6 for corrosion, damage, or loose connections (electrical cause)
Inspect the valve block for visible fluid leaks that could reduce system efficiency
Test if the valve is physically stuck or jammed due to debris or internal wear (mechanical cause)
Ensure the hydraulic couplers are not blocked or damaged
Repair steps
Service the Basics
If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated or the filter is clogged (recommended change interval is 300–500 hours), drain the fluid, flush the system, and replace the hydraulic filter.
Repair Connections
If the diagnostic check revealed a wiring issue, clean the electrical contacts on Valve 6 and repair any damaged harness wires.
Clean the Valve
If the valve is sticking due to debris, remove the valve, clean the internal chamber, and replace the seals.
Replace the Valve
If the valve is faulty, relieve all hydraulic system pressure. Disconnect the electrical harness and hydraulic hoses/couplers from External Hydraulic Valve 6. Unbolt the faulty valve block from the hydraulic manifold. Install the new external hydraulic valve, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Reconnect the hoses and electrical connections.
Test and Clear Codes
Top up the hydraulic fluid with OEM UTTO fluid. Start the tractor, cycle the hydraulics to bleed air from the system, and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.60.21 code.
