0A.60.25

Massey Ferguson 0A.60.25: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). This is typically caused by an electrical connection problem (such as a wiring fault or failed solenoid) or a mechanical failure within the valve slice itself.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and Verify: Use a compatible diagnostic tool or interface device to retrieve the code and confirm if 0A.60.25 is currently active or a stored historical code.

  2. Visual Inspection: Locate the rear remote valve stack and identify External Hydraulic Valve 6. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector plugging into the valve's solenoid for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins.

  3. Electrical Testing: Test the solenoid on Valve 6 for proper resistance and ensure it is receiving the correct voltage signal from the tractor's diagnostic system when the valve is commanded to open/close.

  4. Mechanical Check: Check the spool valve for mechanical binding, sticking, or external hydraulic fluid leaks.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical hydraulic system.

  2. Address Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector at Valve 6, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector pigtail.

  3. Replace the Solenoid/Pilot Control

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid failed testing, remove and replace the Pilot Pressure Control for the electric spool valve.

  4. Rebuild or Replace the Spool Valve

If the electrical components are functioning but the valve is mechanically failing, remove the Valve 6 slice from the hydraulic stack. You can either rebuild it using an OEM spool valve repair kit or replace the entire electric spool slice assembly. Note: If replacing the entire electric spool slice, the new unit must be programmed to the tractor's onboard diagnostic system.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reinstall the valve, reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connectors, and restore battery power. Use a diagnostic tool to clear code 0A.60.25 and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
