Check the cause
Retrieve and Verify Codes: Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device to confirm the code and check for any accompanying codes.
Inspect Electrical Connections: Check the wiring harness and connectors going to the electrohydraulic spool valves for connection problems, shorts, or open circuits.
Check Valve Spool Position: Verify if the valve spool is physically stuck or failing to return to the neutral position, which is a known cause for hydraulic valve errors.
Fluid and Filter Check: Inspect the hydraulic fluid levels and filters, ensuring you are using the recommended fluids, and check the valve block for any visible hydraulic leaks or blown seals.
Repair steps
Consult the Service Manual
Operators must refer to the specific tractor's service manual (e.g., the MF 6400/8600/6700S series Technician Service Book) for the exact teardown procedure of the hydraulic valve block.
Address Wiring/Connection Faults
If the diagnostic tool indicates a connection issue, repair or replace the damaged wiring harness or connector at Valve 6.
Valve Replacement/Rebuild
If the electrohydraulic spool valve itself is internally damaged or the spool is seized, the valve section must be removed from the lift cover/valve block and either rebuilt with new seals or replaced entirely.
Clear the DTC
After the physical repair, the code must be cleared. Trying to clear Massey Ferguson DTCs without the necessary knowledge or diagnostic software could worsen the problem; it is recommended to have a qualified technician with the proper interface device clear the code and recalibrate the valve if necessary.
