Massey Ferguson 0A.62.28 – Main Vehicle ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Malfunction, connection problem, or pressure irregularity associated with the 6th external hydraulic spool valve (rear remote valve). The system has detected a fault which could range from an electrical connection issue (short to ground or open circuit) to a mechanical blockage in the pressure or backflow lines.

   Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and ensure the hydraulic filters have been changed within the last 300-500 hours.

   Inspect the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor for physical leaks, microscopic cracks in the rubber hoses, or damaged quick-release couplers.

   Inspect the wiring harness, spool valve control cable, and connectors leading to Valve 6 for corrosion, fraying, or loose pins.

   Connect a pressure gauge to the diagnostic connectors (e.g., P9 and P10 on the pump controller/cover) to verify the hydraulic pump is delivering adequate pressure (typically around 190 bar).

   Check for blocked pressure lines or backflow lines.

   Depressurize the System

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the system.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the electronic spool valve connections.

   Remove Hoses and Cables

   Disconnect the electronic spool valve control cable/switch from Valve 6. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and quick couplers, capping the lines immediately to prevent dirt from entering the system.

   Unbolt the Valve

   Remove the securing bolts holding the spool valve section to the main hydraulic block or lift cover base plate.

   Install the New Valve

   Fit the replacement spool valve, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the hydraulic lines, quick couplers, and the electronic control cable.

   Fluid and Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Top up the UTTO hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Start the tractor, allow the fluid to warm up, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leaks.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.62.28 DTC from the system.
