Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 6 for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing

  2. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the valve's solenoid to ensure it hasn't shorted or opened

  3. Ensure the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and free of heavy contamination, which can cause the spool valve to stick

  4. If the valve stack allows, temporarily swap the electrical connection of Valve 6 with an adjacent valve (e.g., Valve 5) to see if the fault code follows the wiring or stays with the physical valve

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the external hydraulic system.

  2. Access the Valve Stack

Locate the rear remote valve stack (usually mounted at the rear lift cover). Identify Valve 6 in the sequence.

  3. Disconnect Electronics

Carefully unplug the wiring harness connector from the Valve 6 solenoid.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the tie-rods or mounting bolts holding the specific spool valve section to the hydraulic block. Be prepared with a catch pan, as residual hydraulic fluid will leak out.

  5. Replace or Reseal

If the valve is mechanically failed or the solenoid is dead, replace the entire valve section. If it is leaking between sections, replace the O-rings/seals.

  6. Reassemble

Install the new valve, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

  7. Reconnect and Clear Codes

Reconnect the electrical harness. Top off the hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and check for leaks. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.63.21 DTC from the system.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Standard Hydraulic Valve

Verify with the dealer whether the valve is a standard slice or a specialized slice with a built-in float position.

  • Dual Hydraulic Remote Valve Kit

    677421
  • Lift Cover / Mounting base

    180908M1
  • External Hydraulic Remote Valve / Electronic Spool Valve / Auxiliary Hydraulic Valve

The exact part number depends heavily on the specific tractor model's hydraulic stack configuration.
