Check the cause

  1. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 6 on the rear hydraulic valve stack and inspect the wiring harness for chafing, breaks, or rodent damage.

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at the valve and check for moisture, dirt, or corroded pins.

  3. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the solenoid coil on Valve 6 to ensure it is not open or shorted.

  4. Ensure the spool is not mechanically jammed by debris, which can cause the solenoid to draw excessive current and trigger a fault.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear hydraulic valve block area to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Address Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a corroded connector or broken wire, clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and repair the harness. Reconnect and test.

  4. Replace the Valve Slice

If the solenoid or internal spool is confirmed dead: Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system. Disconnect the 4-pin electrical connector from Valve 6. Unbolt the specific electric spool slice from the hydraulic valve stack. Install the new spool slice, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Torque the tie-rod bolts to OEM specifications.

  5. Recalibration

Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or the tractor's in-cab terminal to clear the DTCs and program/calibrate the new electric spool slice to the tractor's system.
