0A.6X.20

Massey Ferguson 0A.6X.20 – Autotronic module (e.g., Autotronic 4 or 5) or Implement/Hydraulic Control Unit: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the circuit, solenoid, or mechanical operation of the 6th external remote hydraulic spool valve. Common underlying conditions include an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power in the solenoid circuit, or a mechanical issue such as a stuck valve spool preventing proper fluid flow.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and check for a blocked hydraulic filter which can restrict oil flow.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Valve 6 solenoid for rub points, damaged wires, or corrosion at the connector.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the solenoid coil resistance and verify ground integrity to ensure there is no open circuit or short to ground.

  4. Check for external leaks around the valve block and determine if the valve spool is physically sticking or jammed due to debris or internal wear.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Shut off all power to the equipment, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground to relieve system pressure, and disconnect the battery.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the electrical connector from the Valve 6 solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid/Valve

Depending on the diagnosis, remove the retaining bolts for the solenoid coil or the entire spool valve assembly.

  5. Inspect and Clean

If the valve is sticking, inspect the spool for scoring or debris. Replace worn O-rings and seals. If the solenoid failed the multimeter test, discard the faulty solenoid.

  6. Install New Parts

Fit the replacement solenoid or complete electric spool valve. Torque the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  7. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the wiring harness. Top up the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) if any was lost, and change the hydraulic filter if it is due for service (every 300-500 hours).

  8. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.6X.20 DTC from the system and test the remote valve operation.
