Massey Ferguson 0A.6X.21 – Auxiliary Hydraulic / Implement Valve ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
Indicates a malfunction in the 6th rear remote electronic spool valve (spool slice), typically an electrical circuit failure, a communication loss with the valve's internal solenoid, or a pilot pressure control failure within that specific valve slice.

Check the cause
Inspect the 4-pin electrical connector on the #6 remote valve slice at the rear of the tractor for ingress of dirt, moisture, or corroded pins.
Swap the electrical connector from Valve 6 to an adjacent known-good valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to the Valve 5 circuit, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness. If the code remains on Valve 6, the electronic spool slice itself has failed internally.
Ensure the hydraulic/transmission fluid (UTTO) is at the correct level and the hydraulic filters are not blocked, as contaminated oil can cause the pilot pressure controls inside the valve to stick.
Repair steps
Relieve pressure and clean
Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system and thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the 4-pin electrical connector from the #6 valve slice.
Remove hoses and couplers
Remove the hydraulic hoses and quick couplers attached to that specific slice.
Unbolt tie-rods
Unbolt the long tie-rods that hold the modular valve stack together.
Remove faulty slice
Carefully slide out the faulty #6 electric spool slice.
Install new slice
Install the new spool slice, ensuring that all O-rings between the slices are new and properly seated.
Torque tie-rods
Reinsert and torque the tie-rods to the manufacturer's specifications.
Reconnect lines and connector
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the 4-pin electrical connector.
Calibrate spool slice
The new electric spool slice will likely need to be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a dealer diagnostic tool before it will operate correctly.
