Massey Ferguson 0A.6X.23 – Onboard diagnostic system: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction on the number 6 auxiliary remote spool valve, typically caused by an electrical connection problem to the valve's solenoid, or a mechanical issue such as the valve sticking/jamming due to internal wear or debris in the hydraulic fluid.

Check the cause
Check the wiring harness and electrical connector leading to external hydraulic valve 6 for corrosion, loose connections, or damaged wires.
Inspect the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Look for dirty, contaminated, or aerated oil, and check if the hydraulic filter is clogged.
Check for visible hydraulic fluid leaks around the valve block, quick couplers, and O-rings.
Perform an operational test on the remote service to see if the lever/electronic control is completely dead, weak, fails to hold pressure, or if the implement creeps.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the tractor, allow the system to cool, and fully depressurize the hydraulic system by cycling the hydraulic controls.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt from entering the system during disassembly.
Electrical Disconnect
Disconnect the electrical harness from the #6 spool valve solenoid.
Valve Removal/Disassembly
Remove the affected spool valve from the valve block.
Inspect and Clean
Inspect the spool and the valve chamber for scoring, metal shavings, or damaged seals. If the valve is simply sticking due to debris, thoroughly cleaning the spool and flushing the contaminated fluid may resolve the issue.
Reseal
If the valve is leaking or losing pressure but mechanically sound, replace all internal O-rings and seals using an OEM spool valve repair kit.
Replacement
If the electronic solenoid has failed or the valve body is heavily scored (a known issue with some Bosch Rexroth SB23 valves), the entire electronic spool valve assembly must be replaced.
Reassembly and Fluid
Reinstall the valve, reconnect the electrical harness, and replace the hydraulic filter. Top up the system with fresh OEM UTTO fluid.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.6X.23 code and test the #6 remote under load to ensure proper operation.
