Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Valve 6 for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture

  2. Inspect the spool valve block for physical damage, leaking hydraulic fluid, or a stuck spool

  3. Test the electronic solenoid actuator on Valve 6 for proper resistance and ensure it is receiving voltage from the ECU when commanded

  4. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface to read live data and confirm if the valve is responding to inputs

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the remote levers/buttons, and disconnect the battery.

  2. Locate Valve 6

Identify the 6th external hydraulic spool valve in the rear remote valve stack.

  3. Clean and Re-seat

Disconnect the electrical harness to the valve. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and re-seat the connection. If the code was caused by a loose connection, this may resolve it.

  4. Replace the Valve/Solenoid

If the valve is internally failed or the solenoid is burnt out, unbolt the hydraulic lines connected to Valve 6.

  5. Install New Part

Remove the mounting bolts holding the spool valve to the stack. Install the replacement spool valve or repair kit, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated.

  6. Reassemble and Bleed

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness. Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and operate the valve to bleed any trapped air.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.6X.25 code from the system.
