Massey Ferguson 0A.6X.28 – Main Tractor ECU / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

   Inspect the electrical connector and wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 6 at the rear hydraulic block for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing.

   If the valve is mechanically actuated via a cab lever with electronic sensing, inspect the spool valve control cable for stretching, binding, or breakage.

   Perform a swap test by moving the electrical connector from Valve 6 to a known working valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to the corresponding valve, the issue is in the wiring harness or ECU. If the code remains on Valve 6, the valve solenoid or internal sensor is faulty.

   Ensure the quick-release couplings are not blocked or damaged, and verify the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level.

   Depressurize the System

   Safely park the tractor on level ground, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and actuate the hydraulic levers to relieve any residual pressure in the system.

   Access the Valve Block

   Locate the external hydraulic valve stack at the rear of the tractor. Valve 6 will be the 6th slice in the assembly.

   Disconnect Electronics

   Carefully unplug the electrical harness from the valve solenoid.

   Replace the Cable (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic check revealed a faulty spool valve cable, disconnect the cable from the valve linkage and the cab control. Route the new cable carefully to avoid sharp bends or pinch points, and calibrate the lever if required.

   Replace the Valve (If Faulty)

   Place a large catch bucket under the valve block, as hydraulic fluid will leak. Remove the tie-bolts holding the hydraulic valve stack together. Carefully slide out the faulty Valve 6 slice. Install the new spool valve slice, ensuring all O-rings and seals between the slices are seated correctly. Re-torque the tie-bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness and/or mechanical cables.

   Fluid and Testing

   Top up the hydraulic fluid reservoir. Start the tractor, cycle the hydraulic valve to bleed any trapped air, and check for leaks.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.6X.28 code from the ECU.
