Massey Ferguson 0A.70.11 – Hydraulic Control Unit / Transmission Control Unit: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue
Issue description
An electrical or connection-related fault indicating that the tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a problem communicating with or actuating the 7th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). It typically points to a connection problem, an open circuit, or a short circuit on the electronic solenoid controlling that specific hydraulic valve.

Check the cause
Check the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 7 (located at the rear hydraulic remote stack) for moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.
Inspect the cable harness between the hydraulic controls and the control unit for chafing, open circuits, or short circuits to +12V or Ground.
Swap the electrical connection from Valve 7 to an adjacent known-good valve (e.g., Valve 6). If the fault code changes to the new valve's designation, the issue is within the valve's solenoid. If the code remains 0A.70.11, the issue is in the wiring harness or the control module.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve hydraulic pressure from the system.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the rear external hydraulic valve stack and identify the 7th slice/valve.
Clean and Reconnect
Disconnect the harness from the valve. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Reconnect and test to see if the code clears.
Repair Wiring
If the harness is damaged (shorted or open circuit), repair the broken wires and secure them away from pinch points.
Replace the Valve/Solenoid
If the solenoid is internally shorted or failed, unbolt the electronic spool valve section from the hydraulic stack.
Install New Part
Install the replacement electronic spool valve, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated between the valve slices. Torque the tie-rod bolts to OEM specifications.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTC and cycle the valve to ensure proper operation.
Parts you might need
(1)Electronic External Hydraulic Spool Valve / Remote Valve Solenoid
Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily depending on the exact tractor series. Order the specific 'Electronic Spool Valve Slice' corresponding to the tractor's VIN/serial number. Older mechanical remote kits like the TS3200M do not apply.
