Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and verify codes using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm the presence of code 0A.70.1E.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 7 for corrosion, loose pins, or broken wires.

  3. For models utilizing electronic-to-mechanical cable actuation, inspect the spool valve control cables for binding, stretching, or damage.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Hydraulic Pressure

Ensure the tractor is turned off and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before servicing the valves.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve stack (usually mounted on the rear lift cover or rear remote block). Identify Valve 7.

  3. Address Wiring/Cables

If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged connector or a bound spool valve cable, replace the faulty wiring segment or control cable.

  4. Replace the Valve

If the electrical connections and cables are intact, the spool valve itself has likely failed internally. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and quick-release couplings from the valve. Unbolt the faulty spool valve from the hydraulic stack. Install the replacement valve, ensuring all O-rings and gaskets are properly seated.

  5. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the hoses and electrical connectors. Top up the hydraulic fluid to the correct level. Clear the DTCs using your diagnostic tool and test the remote valve to ensure the code does not return.
